Restaurant Assistant Operations Manager

Location: Manhattan, NY

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Assistant Operations Manager to support the leadership team of a high-volume restaurant and entertainment venue in Manhattan. This position is ideal for a hands-on hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in team leadership, guest service, and restaurant operations.

The Assistant Operations Manager will work closely with the General Manager and management team to ensure outstanding guest experiences, efficient daily operations, strong team performance, and achievement of financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily restaurant and entertainment venue operations, ensuring smooth execution across all departments.
• Support the General Manager in leading, coaching, and developing managers and hourly team members.
• Maintain high standards for guest service, food quality, cleanliness, safety, and overall hospitality.
• Act as a manager-on-duty and provide leadership during high-volume shifts and peak business periods.
• Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, labor deployment, and productivity to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist with controlling food, beverage, labor, and operating costs.
• Review sales and operational performance and help implement action plans to achieve business goals.
• Recruit, interview, train, and onboard new team members.
• Develop employees through ongoing coaching, recognition, training, and performance feedback.
• Partner with kitchen and front-of-house leadership to maintain consistent service and product standards.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and ensure issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and cash-handling procedures.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and loss-prevention initiatives.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, promotions, and operational expectations.
• Help create a positive, energetic, and team-oriented workplace culture.
• Support special events, large parties, corporate functions, and other high-volume business periods.
• Maintain a visible presence on the floor and lead by example during service.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a high-volume or multi-department operation.
• Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations, labor management, guest service, and cost control.
• Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a high-energy environment.
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and during peak business periods.
• Strong leadership presence with a hands-on management approach.
