Insurance Coverage Attorney - (CA)

Location: Irvine, CA / Los Angeles, CA / San Francisco, CA | Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid | Compensation: $160,000-$275,000 base salary

Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a skilled Associate, Senior Associate, or Senior Counsel Litigation Attorney to join its growing Insurance Coverage Practice Group. This practice handles complex, high-value coverage litigation and market conduct matters on behalf of domestic and international insurers, including commercial general liability, commercial property, errors and omissions, and directors' and officers' coverage.

What you'll do

• Analyze insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions
• Provide clear and actionable coverage recommendations for clients
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research tools
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
• Draft interrogatories, document requests, and responses
• Review and analyze document collections in preparation for litigation
• Engage in direct communication with domestic and international insurers
• Collaborate with partners and team members to advance case objectives with efficiency and precision

Required qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record
• Law Review and/or Honors required
• Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing (other bar admissions considered for seasoned candidates with extensive coverage experience)
• 3+ years of substantive litigation experience, with a focus on insurance coverage matters
• Experience analyzing complex insurance policies
• Ability to provide clear coverage recommendations
• Demonstrated experience drafting litigation-related documents
• Experience participating in litigation proceedings, including depositions and mediations
• Familiarity with some or all of the following: bad faith insurance claims, commercial general liability, commercial property, errors & omissions, and directors & officers
• Exceptional legal research and writing skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team

Compensation and benefits

• Annual base salary range of $160,000-$275,000, determined by experience and market factors
