Scientist II, Screening

Profluent seeks a Scientist II to establish and lead a centralized gene editor screening function. This role combines hands-on experimental work in mammalian genome editing assays with team leadership, process development, and cross-functional coordination to generate high-quality data for protein design models.

Responsibilities

• Build and mentor a team of 2–4 Research Associates including hiring, training, and performance management
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot mammalian genome editing assays with NGS readouts in multiple formats
• Define technical standards, qualify new assays, and write standard operating procedures
• Coordinate screening operations from experiment planning through data delivery, partnering with Automation, Bioinformatics, and Data Science
• Identify and drive infrastructure projects to improve throughput, consistency, and assay sensitivity

Requirements

• Experience designing and executing mammalian genome editing assays with NGS readouts
• Demonstrated expertise in arrayed and pooled screening formats
• Strong track record in assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting
• Experience leading and mentoring scientific teams
• Ability to write and maintain standard operating procedures
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and scientific communication skills
