This position will provide administrative support to the New Mexico Commission for the Blind's Orientation Center in Alamogordo.
How does it get done? Consistently and accurately create purchase documents and vouchers in accordance with state purchasing regulations and monitors the Orientation Center expenditures and regularly reports expenditures to the Center Director. Consistently and accurately maintain student files, waiting lists, and internal personnel files, answers telephone and routes calls to the appropriate person, and distributes mail to the appropriate staff member or student. Consistently and accurately assist Center Director in preparing schedules and program planning, schedules student tours, student progress meetings, and staff meetings and trainings, always informs the Center Director of staff and student issues, assists in preparing correspondence, and assists in preparing performance evaluations. Assist in the maintenance and preparation of materials for Orientation Center certifications.
Who are the customers? Staff, specifically the Orientation Center Director, and students of the Orientation Center
Ideal Candidate Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish and English
One year of professional experience creating internal purchase requisitions, purchase orders and payment vouchers
Five years of professional experience working with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Power Point
Five years of experience processing accounts receivable and payable
Three years of experience providing administrative support at an executive level
Three years of experience taking minutes and notes for fast paced meetings
Ability to lift / move up to 25 pounds
Ability to use a computer and sit for long periods of time
Ability to use printers scanners copiers fax machine and other audio visual equipment
Minimum Qualification No prior experience or training required.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required
