Benefits Specialist

Benefits SpecialistOur client, a management consulting firm, is looking for a Benefits Specialist on a freelance basis through January 2027! In this role, you will support U.S. benefit program operations with primary ownership of service delivery, open enrollment administration, and plan administration.Responsibilities:Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries across health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and leave of absence programs.Deliver empathetic, timely, and accurate responses that build employee trust and confidence.Provide support to end-to-end planning and execution of the annual open enrollment cycle, including sending employee communications, vendor coordination, and post-enrollment audits.Serve as liaison with carriers and benefit vendors throughout the enrollment period.Administer day-to-day benefit plan operations, including enrollments, qualifying life event changes, terminations, and billing reconciliation.Ensure data accuracy across benefit platforms, HRIS, and carrier systems.Support preparation and distribution of ACA reporting obligations (Forms 1094-C and 1095-C) in coordination with payroll and HRIS.Qualifications:3+ years of benefits administration experience, including direct responsibility for employee service delivery and open enrollment.Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. health and welfare benefit plans, with demonstrated ability to resolve complex employee inquiries and explain plan provisions clearly to employees at all levels.Strong service orientation and interpersonal skills; proven ability to deliver high-quality, empathetic support in a fast-paced, professional environment.Expertise in open enrollment planning and execution, including HRIS configuration, carrier file management, and employee communications.Solid understanding of ACA compliance requirements, including 1094-C/1095-C reporting obligations.Demonstrated experience administering U.S. benefit programs with direct accountability for employee-facing service delivery and open enrollment.Experience working with benefit administration systems and HRIS platforms; Workday experience strongly preferred.Please submit your resume for consideration!
