Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with strong experience in business and civil litigation to join our growing law firm. The ideal candidate will handle complex commercial disputes, represent corporate and individual clients in state and federal courts, and contribute to trial preparation and motion practice. This role requires excellent legal analysis, advocacy, and client communication skills, with a commitment to delivering practical, results-oriented solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of business and civil litigation matters from initial intake through disposition, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, memoranda, settlement agreements, and other court documents with precision and adherence to court rules.
• Conduct legal research and prepare clear, persuasive legal briefs and memoranda on complex substantive and procedural issues.
• Participate in client meetings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances; provide strategic advice and updates to clients.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys, including evaluating claims, defenses, and settlement options.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and support staff; delegate tasks and review work product for accuracy and quality.
• Manage deadlines and docket, maintain organized case files, and ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical obligations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas on issues such as contract disputes, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance when litigation overlaps with other legal matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California.
• 5+ years of experience as an attorney, with substantive experience in business litigation and/or civil litigation matters.
• Strong courtroom experience and comfort with depositions, hearings, and trials; proven track record in motion practice and oral advocacy.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to convert complex legal issues into practical client advice.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills; ability to build and maintain client relationships and work effectively in a team.
• Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) and case management software; familiarity with e-discovery tools preferred.
• High ethical standards, attention to detail, and commitment to professional development.
