Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to support a growing manufacturing operation in Pittsboro, Indiana.

This position is responsible for analyzing and maintaining cost-related financial data, inventory accounting, cost controls, and financial reporting. The Senior Cost Accountant will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to understand cost drivers and support business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
• Monitor cost variances and provide analysis to management
• Manage inventory valuation, reconciliations, cycle counts, and physical inventories
• Prepare cost-accounting and inventory-related journal entries
• Support and lead cost-accounting month-end close activities
• Reconcile inventory and cost-related general ledger accounts
• Analyze COGS and manufacturing costs
• Develop cost models to support pricing, budgeting, and forecasting
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance
• Support internal and external audits
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls
• Assist with ERP improvements and implementations related to cost accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of cost accounting or relevant accounting experience
• Manufacturing or product-based accounting experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
• Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
• Experience with ERP systems; Viewpoint, Acumatica, or similar systems preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to operational teams

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA certification, or progress toward certification
• Experience with average and standard costing
• Experience in a fast-paced or growing manufacturing environment

Pay Range: $85,000–$115,000 annually
