Fund Accountant

A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Interim Fund Accountant to provide critical accounting support during a leave of absence. This individual will play a key role in managing endowment accounting, investment activity, donor-restricted funds, debt-related accounting, and month-end financial processes.

• Location: Hybrid 3 days onsite - Thursday mandatory.
• Hours: 35-40 weekly 
• Duration: 4 months (possibility for extension)
• Must Have: Net Asset Journal Entry experience

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities related to a $169M endowment portfolio consisting of approximately 200 named endowment funds
• Reconcile endowment activity to investment statements and ensure accurate fund allocations
• Perform investment and alternative investment accounting, including roll-forward schedules and activity tracking
• Prepare and maintain endowment-related reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Analyze and track donor-restricted net assets and evaluate restriction requirements
• Maintain schedules for restricted contributions and related revenue recognition
• Record and reconcile nonprofit revenue transactions in accordance with GAAP
• Support debt accounting activities, including tracking and reconciling outstanding bond obligations
• Assist with refinancing-related accounting and ensure balances reconcile to external statements
• Identify and implement endowment accounting process improvements
• Complete month-end close activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and ad hoc accounting projects
• Collaborate with accounting leadership and support ongoing financial reporting needs
