Temporary Research Technician - Clayton, NC

Job Title: Temporary Research Technician – Clayton, NC Location: Clayton, NC Department: Central Crops Research Station Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7 am‑4 pm Essential Job Duties This position will assist with all tasks related to the establishment, maintenance, and disposition of field crops, vegetables, fruit, tobacco, and animal specimens. Application of treatments to research subjects according to protocol including pesticides, fertilizers, and irrigation. Operation of a wide variety of agriculture equipment to prepare fields, apply treatments, and harvest crops. Assisting research personnel with plot layout, implementation of treatments, and collection and recording of data. Hand planting and harvest. Assisting research personnel in the seed lab and swine facility. Working with various types of irrigation equipment, including laying solid set pipe and drip irrigation. This position will also assist with maintenance of equipment, grounds, buildings, field plots and other tasks. The validity of research test depends upon the quality of work in the research technician position. Responsible Skills and Experience Combination of training and experience to perform job duties. Knowledge of agricultural practices related to crop and livestock production. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis. Ability to operate farm equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and follow pesticide labels. Ability to collect and record data. Experience in agriculture production (preferred). Required Licenses and Certifications NC Pesticide license OR ability to obtain one. Valid driver's license. Compensation Anticipated hiring rate: $20 per hour.
