Role Overview

We are looking for a Controller to join our team at a pivotal stage of growth. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this person will be the first dedicated accounting hire and will play a foundational role in building out the company's accounting function from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment and wants to own something meaningful.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain the company's core accounting infrastructure, including chart of accounts, close processes, and internal controls
Own the month-end and year-end close process, producing accurate and timely financial statements
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including oversight of bill payment systems and vendor relationships
Develop and document accounting policies and procedures appropriate for a growing operations-stage company
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with the VP of Finance
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party service providers
Assist with financial reporting requirements for investors, lenders, and other stakeholders
Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency across accounting workflows

What We're Looking For

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with some exposure to operational or manufacturing environments preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience building or significantly improving accounting processes, not just maintaining them
Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment with limited resources and high expectations
Proficiency with modern accounting software and tools; experience with Bill.com or similar AP platforms a plus
CPA or equivalent experience welcomed but not required — we care more about what you've built than what letters follow your name
