Billing Coordinator (Hybrid – Chicago, IL)
Compensation: $60,000 – $100,000 base
A prestigious, nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Billing Coordinator to join its Chicago office on a hybrid basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, high-performing finance team supporting top-tier attorneys and sophisticated client matters.
Position Overview
The Billing Coordinator will manage the full-cycle billing process for a group of attorneys, ensuring accurate, timely invoicing in compliance with firm policies and client-specific guidelines. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and effective communication with attorneys and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices, including prebills and edits based on attorney feedback
- Manage the full billing lifecycle from time entry review through final invoice submission
- Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, rate structures, and alternative fee arrangements
- Coordinate with attorneys to review time entries, narratives, write-offs, and adjustments
- Submit invoices via e-billing platforms and troubleshoot submission issues or rejections
- Monitor WIP and accounts receivable; follow up on outstanding balances
- Respond to billing inquiries from attorneys and clients and resolve discrepancies
- Generate billing and financial reports as needed
- Maintain accurate billing records and support audit or reporting needs
Qualifications
- 2+ years of billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of legal billing processes, including prebills, write-offs, and client guidelines
- Experience with billing platforms such as Elite/3E, Aderant, or similar systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication skills; comfortable working with attorneys and clients

Additional Information:
Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
