Jupiter Power is looking for a Development Associate to oversee a portfolio of projects ranging from early to late stage developments in rural and urban settings. This role is responsible for supporting all key development activities, ranging from complex permitting and land acquisition efforts to advancing conceptual design, planning, interconnection, and supporting construction and project execution. As a tight‑knit, interdisciplinary team, we collaborate closely on priorities and expect individuals to be flexible and focused on advancing broader team objectives. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, hard‑working with an all hands on deck mentality, and enthusiastic about collaborating with both the development team and the broader Jupiter organization to advance Jupiter’s significant and growing platform. This individual is expected to apply “best‑in‑class” principles and can expect their colleagues to do the same.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Chicago, IL office and will be subject to our Company’s return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

· Advance Jupiter's leading portfolio of development positions in SPP and PJM from initial desktop screening through pre-construction.

· Flexibility to work on projects across the U.S. as priorities change within the organization on scopes that range from initial greenfielding through project financing/hand off to construction teams.

· Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders - landowners, government officials, first responders, counterparties, environmental, market and technical experts, and advance projects through complex permitting processes

· Create and manage project budgets, development plans, and schedules to ensure projects are on track through all phases.

· Work with the finance team to develop financial models for each project while understanding and evaluating key inputs and assumptions.

· Work with the origination team to support pricing and RFP opportunities for potential customers.

· Support negotiation of tax agreements, land use contracts, mitigation settlements, and various other agreements.

· Support and lead land campaigns for new siting efforts

· In collaboration with internal and external teams, master the evolving market, transmission, regulatory and competitive dynamics in target markets

· Outline and manage project due diligence for commercial and M&A activities

· Support internal investment approval process and prepare board materials for approval

Requirements

We are targeting candidates with 2+ years of experience in energy storage or renewables project development. Role will be dependent on experience.

· Knowledge and experience with energy development in US wholesale markets with a preference for SPP/PJM.

· Experience and proven capability to successfully deliver complex development projects

· Have an all hands on deck mentality, strong attention to detail, unafraid to work hard, take ownership, and initiative to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team

· Ability to build and lead internal and external teams

· Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information on tight timelines

· Ability to travel regularly to support project permitting and development work. Travel will vary depending on project stage, but may be up to 35%.

· High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers

· ( Preferred) F amiliarity with energy storage technologies and deployments

Compensation & Benefits

$100,000 - $115,000

This pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Jupiter Power considers a number of factors when determining starting compensation such as the position requirements and the candidate's qualifications.

In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity programs.
