Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU/CTICU)

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts | 19:00–07:30

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including post-CABG, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, and acute coronary conditions in a Cardiothoracic ICU setting
• Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, administer procedural and continuous IV sedation, and oversee IV insulin protocols
• Monitor and manage advanced hemodynamic devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines, and FloTrac/Vigileo systems
• Provide care for ventilated patients including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Deliver strong neurological care including post-brain surgery patients, EVD/ventriculostomy management, and CVA/acute stroke management
• Utilize the universal bed model to care for patients transitioning from ICU-level to step-down status within the same unit

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or compact license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVICU or CTICU setting
• BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
• Demonstrated skills in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, CVVHD/CRRT, and multi-system organ failure management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols), ICP monitoring, and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
• Experience accessing implanted ports and managing chronic or acute renal failure
