Cashier ($14-$17/hr) - University of Vermont Medical Center

Summary Cashier responsible for accurately collecting and reconciling revenue while providing exceptional hospitality services to all guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Maintain a pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with guests, co‑workers and clients. Greet guests immediately and use proper salutations. Maintain accuracy and composure under pressure while using proper phone etiquette. Assist guests with directions and inquiries about outlets, meeting rooms, amenities, and nearby attractions. Determine guest charges and process payments via cash, credit, or direct billing. Categorize tickets for audit purposes and furnish payment receipts. Collect and reconcile revenue accurately and submit shift reports on time. Operate cash registers, gates, and credit‑card machines while following cash‑bank procedures. Obtain daily event and rate information to apply correct charges. Complete all tasks in a timely manner as instructed by the Lead Cashier/Account Manager. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 1‑3 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide three‑digit numbers and handle U.S. money. Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending standard English. Basic understanding of 24‑hour/military time, rates, and discounts. Strong verbal communication skills for one‑on‑one and small‑group interactions. Schedule & Working Hours Full Time and Part Time (Flexible hours). Compensation & Benefits Hourly base pay range: $14.01–$17 per hour. Physical Demands & Work Environment Employee will frequently sit or stand for extended periods, walk, run, and handle objects requiring up to 50 pounds occasionally.
