About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years hospital experience / level 1 or 2 preferred, travel experience preferred License: Active state RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: EKG tele competency assessment, vent experience, telemetry experience, ability to start IVs Description: Unit specializes in patients with burn injuries, muscle flaps, and head and neck surgeries. This population includes both ICU and advanced care patients. Travel nurses are utilized in the critical care population. Wound nurses will complete extensive burn wound dressings. Agency nurses will not be asked to perform burn dressings. Candidates must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Vent experience and telemetry experience are required. Candidates must be able to start IVs. Nurses will be fitted for N95 before working in the designated unit unless PAPR is offered/needed. Unit may participate in a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner together to care for a group of patients. The goal of this model is to divide the work without dividing the patients, ultimately improving both workload and patient care. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing depending on the unit's needs. Travelers will be the first to float at the discretion of the hospital. Travelers may float in or out of specialty clusters. They may be assigned to a medically appropriate assignment or support the nursing care team of the unit to which they float. If assigned, this could include floating to nearby campuses. Travelers must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Census may lead to the cancellation of shifts. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. Patient ratios for days in ICU are 1-2 and 4-5 in advanced care. Night ratios are based on acuity. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. The daily census is approximately 9 patients with 10 beds available. Candidates may float within the hospital or to another nearby facility based on skill sets and census. Candidates must be comfortable with floating without restrictions or special requests. Epic charting experience is required for all inpatient nursing roles.
