The Role

We are looking for a Business Manager to help run the front end of the company.

This is not a senior management position, but it is also not a first job. We need someone who already has some experience working with customers, keeping up with paperwork, following things through, and handling the day-to-day details of a business.

You may come from sales, construction, an office management role, customer service, bookkeeping, project coordination, or a small business where you had to do a little bit of everything.

You do not need to know our business when you walk in. We can teach you our products, our customers, and how we do things.

But we do need you to already know how to work.

What You'll Do

You will be involved from the time a customer first contacts us until the job is complete and paid for.

Sales and customer follow-up. Answer inbound calls and inquiries, follow up on open quotes, reach back out to past customers, and make outbound calls to new prospects. We don't need a polished salesperson. We need someone who is comfortable talking to people and willing to keep following up.

Job and paperwork tracking. Keep up with active jobs, contracts, purchase orders, change orders, certificates of insurance, lien waivers, and the other paperwork that comes with construction projects. You do not need to know every one of these documents already, but you should be comfortable working with paperwork and learning quickly.

Billing and accounting support. Handle invoicing, accounts payable, receivables, and collections in QuickBooks. You should already understand the basics of invoices, bills, payments, and keeping accurate records. QuickBooks experience is preferred.

Organization. Keep track of open quotes, active jobs, outstanding invoices, deadlines, and loose ends. We need someone who can manage several things at once without constantly being reminded what comes next.

Accountability. Help keep up with employee time and attendance and follow through when something is missing or does not add up.

Who We're Looking For

You are comfortable on the phone.

You don't avoid a call because it might be awkward. If a customer owes us money, you call. If someone has not responded to a quote, you follow up. If there is a problem, you would rather deal with it than let it sit.

You are organized.

Not just a clean-desk person. You keep track of things. You know what is waiting on someone else, what needs to happen next, and what is starting to fall behind.

You follow through.

If you tell someone you'll call them Tuesday, you call them Tuesday. If something doesn't get finished, it stays on your radar until it does.

You notice when something is off.

An invoice did not go out. A quote never got followed up on. A timecard doesn't make sense. A customer has gone quiet. You catch things and do something about them.

You can deal with people without taking things personally.

There will be customers who are frustrated, vendors who make mistakes, employees who need to be reminded of something, and people who owe us money. You need to be able to be firm without turning every problem into a fight.

And you like having different things going on.

Some days you may spend the morning following up on quotes, sending invoices, working through paperwork, answering customer calls, and helping solve a scheduling problem. That is normal here.

What You Should Bring

• Some professional work experience, ideally in sales, office administration, operations, bookkeeping, construction, customer service, or a similar role
• Experience dealing directly with customers
• Good computer skills and solid Excel ability
• A basic understanding of invoicing, bills, payments, and business paperwork
• Comfort learning new software and systems
• The ability to keep up with several jobs, quotes, and deadlines at the same time
• Good judgment and the confidence to handle things without needing constant direction

QuickBooks experience is strongly preferred.

Construction, manufacturing, or trades experience is a plus.

Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred.

Who This Isn't For

This is probably not a good fit if you need a highly structured job with a narrow list of responsibilities.

It is also not a good fit for someone who has never worked in a professional environment and needs to be taught basic business habits from the ground up.

We are happy to teach the right person our industry and give them room to grow. We just need them to come in with a solid foundation.

This is a good opportunity for someone who has a few years of experience, is capable of more than they are doing now, and wants a role where they can take on real responsibility as the company grows.
