Accountant II

Overview The Accountant II will be responsible for specific tasks performed in finance which include general ledger, reinsurance, account analysis, and compliance. Responsibilities Create recurring journal entries based on standard monthly support as well as be point person for any ad-hoc entries Assist in the preparation of month end reports to substantiate and document account balances Prepare reinsurance billings, process resulting reinsurance journal entries and complete reinsurance tables and schedules Prepare account reconciliations and investigate unusual items Generate GL data requests Assist in the timely preparation of the statutory financial statement and state compliance filings Assist with gathering information for internal and external audit requests Work closely with team members to coordinate monthly and quarterly close processes Ad-hoc projects as requested Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance 2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance Excellent PC skills, with a strong background in Microsoft Excel A quick learner, with an ability to be flexible and have demonstrated skills to work effectively independently as well as in a team-oriented environment Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail Experience in Oracle, Property/Casualty insurance industry, insurance accounting, or IFRS accounting a plus This job description is designed to provide a general overview of the requirements of the job and does not entail a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities that will be required in this position.
