Registered Nurse - Cardiac Care

A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available on a Cardiac Care telemetry unit at a 590-bed regional medical center in Kansas City, Missouri. This hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with comprehensive stroke and STEMI designation and offers advanced specialty services including a cancer care program, burn center, neuroscience institute, and women’s care center. The unit provides a fast-paced environment focused on high-acuity cardiac and post-procedural patient care.

The Cardiac Care RN is responsible for coordinating and delivering care to patients recovering from a wide range of cardiac conditions and interventions, including open heart surgery, cardiac catheterization with stent placement, ablations, pacemaker and AICD implantation, cardiovascular surgical procedures, and acute stroke and STEMI events. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and accountability in delivering safe, evidence-based care aligned with nursing practice standards. Nurses in this role gain ongoing exposure to complex cardiac cases and opportunities to further develop advanced cardiac care expertise.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiac telemetry and post-procedural patients.

• Monitor and manage patients recovering from cardiac surgeries and interventions.

• Recognize and respond to acute changes in cardiac and neurological status.

• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.

• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to coordinate patient treatment plans.

• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, medications, and recovery.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

• Adhere to ANA Standards of Practice and state Nursing Practice Act guidelines.

• Participate in continuous learning and professional development in cardiac care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year of acute care Cardiac Care or similar RN experience required.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.

• Active Missouri Registered Nurse license required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and maintained.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire.

• Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

• Basic computer proficiency required.

Schedule:
