CAD Drafter

A client of Insight Global is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter with at least 2 years of experience to join their team in the Orlando, Florida area. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in 2D AutoCAD, holds a CAD certification (or related education), and has experience supporting engineering projects within utilities, power, or civil environments.
This individual will play a key role in developing and maintaining construction standards documentation and supporting the creation of a specification (spec) book and engineering manual. They will sit onsite in office 5 days a week and will occasionally meet with clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings to support engineering and construction standards
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of construction specification books and technical standards documentation
- Work closely under a Principal Engineer to translate requirements into standardized documentation and drawings
- Interpret engineering direction and convert it into clear, organized CAD deliverables
- Support permitting efforts by preparing plan drawings for submission to local jurisdictions
- Read, interpret, and replicate roadway plans, civil site plans, and construction drawings
- Coordinate with internal teams and occasionally meet with clients to clarify requirements and project scope
- Ensure drawings and documentation align with established standards and guidelines

Required Skills & Experience
- 1-2+ years of professional CAD drafting experience (not entry-level)
- Strong proficiency in 2D AutoCAD
- CAD Certification required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications
- Background in utilities, power distribution, or civil/site development projects


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting spec books, standards manuals, or technical documentation
- Experience creating drawings for permitting and local jurisdiction approvals
- Ability to read or develop roadway plans or civil site plans
- Exposure to drafting standards development or documentation processes
