Registered Nurse - Orthopedic Surgery Center

Schedule

This position offers a 10-hour shift, 4 days a week, from 06:30 AM to 05:00 PM. Scheduled days off will be determined based on departmental needs, with special requests considered if possible. Occasional late shifts are expected a few times each month.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will join a fast-paced orthopedic surgery team at a high-volume surgery center with five operating rooms. The role involves pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for orthopedic patients, including those undergoing total joint replacements, arthroscopy, and various upper and lower extremity surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical history and reconciling home medications.
• Obtain vital signs and perform pre-operative assessments.
• Start IVs and administer medications as ordered.
• Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), ensuring comfort and safety.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff to provide high-quality patient care.
• Provide discharge instructions to patients and support them in safely transitioning post-surgery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical or orthopedic setting.
• Current South Carolina or Compact RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Radiation badge must be provided by the parent company.
