Machining Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced machining leader to improve productivity, optimize production flow, and help lead a team of skilled CNC machinists in a custom precision manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with data-driven operational management to improve throughput, machine utilization, and on-time delivery while developing the next generation of shop leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Coach machinists on machining strategies, cycle times, tooling, feeds, speeds, and setup methods to improve productivity.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and improve machine utilization, labor efficiency, and throughput.
- Develop reports and performance metrics that support data-driven decision-making.
- Manage production scheduling and workflow across multiple machining centers.
- Work closely with Engineering, Planning, and Quality to improve production flow and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Mentor supervisors and machinists while promoting continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Extensive CNC machining experience, including setup, tooling, feeds and speeds, and machining process optimization.
- Demonstrated success improving productivity, reducing cycle times, or increasing machine utilization.
- Experience using ERP systems, production metrics, KPIs, and manufacturing reports to drive operational decisions.
- Ability to earn the respect of experienced machinists while coaching and developing employees.
- Previous experience leading custom machining or job shop operations preferred.
