Join our Patient Access team as a Financial Advocate and help patients understand financial options, reduce barriers to care, and feel supported throughout their healthcare experience.

Summary: The Financial Advocate helps patients understand financial assistance options, sliding fee discount requirements, payment plans, balances, and available resources. This role works closely with patients and internal teams to provide clear communication, compassionate support, accurate documentation, and timely follow-up. Training will be provided for job-specific responsibilities, systems, and procedures.

Essential Duties: Responsibilities include the duties listed below, along with other related duties as assigned.

• Help patients understand financial assistance options, sliding fee discount requirements, account balances, available resources, and manageable payment options in clear, respectful language.
• Review income, household information, and financial assistance documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Determine sliding fee discount eligibility using approved procedures and communicate outcomes appropriately.
• Assist patients with forms, missing information, balance questions, available resources, and financial follow-up needs.
• Provide responsive customer service, support difficult conversations professionally, and coordinate with team members to resolve patient needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Customer service, healthcare, registration, financial assistance, Epic/OCHIN, or electronic health record experience is helpful, but not required.
• Bilingual skills are helpful but not required. Employees who meet approved bilingual proficiency requirements may be eligible for additional bilingual pay.
