About the Position

Job Title: Interventional Radiology Rad Tech Profession: Rad Tech Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4x10.0 Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Two (2) years of experience required License: Technician License (NY ONLY) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association ONLY), AART Must-Have: Neurosurgery/Neuroscience Experience required Description: The Interventional Radiology Rad Tech must have experience in neuroscience. This position involves working four ten-hour shifts, with days, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as required by the unit. Call responsibilities include 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends per month. Ideal candidates will have interventional radiology experience. Typically, the unit trains Rad Techs from other modalities for up to six months when they start in neuro interventional radiology. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate competence in selecting exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce radiologic images of diagnostic quality. Work cooperatively with all team members to resolve problems expediently. Exhibit flexibility, teamwork, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with others. Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to patients' rights in all interactions. AREAS OF EMPHASIS: Administer oral contrast as needed per exam. Instruct and prepare patients for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations and assist during procedures. Demonstrate competence and proficiency in operating all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems. Report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Complete all assigned procedures in a timely manner and utilize time between procedures to assist others, perform clerical duties, and stock supplies. Maintain medication security to authorized personnel only. Demonstrate competency in providing health care services to all age groups. Show competency in interpersonal relationships across all age groups. DOCUMENTATION/INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Demonstrate competency in using the Client Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS. Participate in performance improvement activities when warranted. Ensure confidentiality by using a personal password in all patient care modules. Respond to technical inquiries from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
