KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) organization.Responsibilities:Play a key role in developing our State and Local tax (SALT) practice by providing excellent client facing with a focus on New York state and local income and sales/use tax mattersWork with clients in all industries to effectively and efficiently navigate through and comply with the complexities of New York state and local tax laws and the state tax audit and appeals processesAdvise and draft technical memoranda regarding New York State tax mattersBuild, manage, direct and monitor multiple client engagements teams while maintaining active communication with clients in an effort to manage expectations and help ensure client satisfactionLead, participate in and contribute to market and business development activities external to the firm, including identifying and pursuing new potential client service opportunities by collaborating with KPMG's Audit and Advisory practices as well as the individual's external networkContribute to the growth, experience and institutional knowledge of the SALT practice membersQualifications:Have extensive knowledge related to New York State income and sales tax laws, with a minimum 15 years working specifically on New York State tax matters;Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field of study from an accredited college/university; licensed CPA, JD/LLM, Enrolled Agent, CMI or MST (Masters in Taxation)Strong technical awareness of state income and franchise tax issuesDemonstrated track record of business development with the ability to develop and maintain existing internal and external client relationships and help build new relationships with key targetsDemonstrated experience leading multiple engagements and client service teams as well as developing and mentoring staff within a collaborative team environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex informationMinimum of 10 years assisting clients with state audit and appeals processesKPMG complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying salary ranges.
