Registered Nurse, RN Clinic Infusion PRN

Location: Serpick Infusion Center, UM St. Joseph Medical Center campus, Towson, MD. Working hours: 7:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Clinic closed nights, weekends, and holidays. General Summary This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses at UMMC who have greater than 12 months of experience. The nurse will be competent in the required skills and knowledge, fully participate in unit governance, and practice and adhere to the guidelines specified in the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter. Independently provides and coordinates care to patients within a clinical specialty and serves as a fully effective member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Demonstrates and models the full range of nursing professional practice in care delivery, participates in developing strategies to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and cost effectiveness at the unit level. Is accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care, to peers for advancing group practice on the unit, and to the nurse manager for overall performance. Education and Experience Competent evaluation with successful passing of probation; current on all mandatory classes/training. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice under Compact state agreements outlined by the MD Board of Nursing. Maintenance of 6 oncology‑specific contact hours of education per year. Member of a professional organization. Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting. ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider certificate required at 1 year. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to lead others, such as effectiveness as charge nurse, preceptor, or clinical resource, and as a multidisciplinary team member. Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the patient population served, including knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and assessment of population‑specific needs. Demonstrated/documented highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Patient Safety Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety. Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority. Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge. Benefits Full-Time. Pay Range: $45.00. Other Compensation: Shift Differential.
