Demolition Worker
A demolition worker safely tears down, dismantles, or strips old buildings and structures using heavy machinery and specialized tools
Key Responsibilities:
Tear down structures: Dismantle buildings, walls, and fixtures using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment.
Site preparation: Set up safety barriers, fences, and warning signs around the work zone.
Hazardous material checks: Identify dangerous substances like asbestos or lead paint before work begins.
Debris cleanup: Clear, sort, and haul away rubble, loading waste materials into trucks or containers.
Requirements and Skills:
Physical strength: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in harsh weather
Tool proficiency: Know how to safely operate sledgehammers, jackhammers, torch cutters, and heavy machinery.
Safety training: Often require an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification to follow standard safety rules.
Experience: Usually need a high school diploma or equivalent, plus basic construction or demolition experience.
