The Estimator I supports the development of accurate and competitive estimates for industrial construction projects, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, vendor and subcontractor pricing, and bid preparation. This entry-level role also provides hands-on exposure to Project Management and Quality Control, building a well-rounded understanding of projects from estimating through execution and completion.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Analysis
• Assist in preparing cost estimates for industrial construction projects, including material take-offs, labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project expenses.
• Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other bid documents to understand project requirements.
• Collaborate with senior estimators to develop accurate and competitive project pricing.
• Assist with cost analysis and identification of potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project requirements and quality standards.
• Utilize estimating software and other tools to complete quantity take-offs and cost calculations.

Bid Preparation & Vendor Coordination
• Support the preparation of bid proposals, bid forms, scopes, and supporting documentation.
• Organize bid packages and documentation for internal review and submission.
• Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scopes of work. 
• Assist with comparing vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure scope and pricing alignment.
• Maintain organized records of vendor and subcontractor pricing for future estimating needs.

Project Management Support
• Assist Project Managers and project teams with project documentation, cost tracking, procurement, and other project coordination activities as needed.
• Support the preparation and tracking of project documents, which may include RFIs, submittals, change documentation, purchase orders, and project reports.
• Participate in project turnover and review meetings to understand how estimated costs and assumptions transition into project execution.
• Assist with monitoring project progress and comparing actual project costs and performance against estimated expectations.
• Coordinate with Estimating, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Field Operations as needed.

Quality Control Support
• Assist the Quality team with project quality documentation and recordkeeping.
• Support the tracking and organization of inspection reports, quality documentation, and project records.
• Participate in field observations and inspections alongside qualified Quality personnel as appropriate.
• Assist with tracking quality-related items, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Develop an understanding of project specifications, quality requirements, and Enerfab quality standards.

Project & Field Exposure
• Participate in project site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project reviews as needed.
• Develop an understanding of construction methods, sequencing, productivity, and field conditions to improve estimating knowledge.
• Gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from estimating and preconstruction through project execution and closeout.
• Maintain accurate and organized estimating and project documentation.

Qualifications 
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Previous internship, co-op, or 1–3 years of experience in construction, estimating, project management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• General understanding of construction methods, materials, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to learn and utilize estimating, project management, and construction-related software.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with estimating, project management, quality, engineering, and shop/field personnel.
• Willingness to visit industrial construction sites and learn shop and field operations.
