Social Worker Investigative, Assessment, & Treatment- CPS (Posting # 631127-2722)

Position Under general supervision, incumbents perform professional library duties in any assigned area of the library, which may include supervising the work of sub‑professional library personnel. The selected candidate will be assigned to the Young Adult area of the Library. Responsibilities Provide general reference and reader’s advisory services to the public, including basic and advanced reference work. Develop, conduct, and evaluate outreach and on‑site programs for teens and other patron groups. Perform reference searches using databases, online catalogs, and Internet sources. Participate in collection development: suggest, evaluate, and select books, reference materials, audio‑video, electronic media, and periodicals for circulation and reference. Maintain accurate records and files to track statistics related to the assigned unit and prepare reports and other written materials. Supervise or act as manager in the absence of the supervisor, directing paraprofessional and clerical staff. Represent the library in meetings with the community and special interest groups. Plan and conduct programs for specific customer groups such as children, young adults, or adults, and maintain relationships with local schools and community partners. Maintain and improve the young adult collection and the library’s web site. Support a welcoming atmosphere and encourage young adult participation in library activities. Qualifications Graduate degree in library science from an ALA‑accredited college or university. No prior experience required, but experience working with teens is desirable. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Knowledge of professional library practices, reference techniques, collection development, and technical classification. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Organizational skills and ability to set priorities. Proficiency in using automated catalogs, databases, and Internet software. Salary and Benefits Salary is based on a five‑step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and at each year thereafter.
