Common diagnoses/Types of patients Congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension, and chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, and pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, asthma, and pneumonia, Pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.
Experience or 'Must have' skills Med/Surg experience
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? We have remote telemontitoring
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios yes, 1:8
