Summary:

• This is social service work, at the full performance level, administering a volunteer service program for Court appointed special advocates (CASA). A position in this class coordinates the service efforts of the volunteers with children who have been referred to the program through the Juvenile Dependency Court system. Positions in this class are differentiated from those in related ones in the specialization of work in child welfare, program administration and the selection, training and management of volunteer personnel. A position in this class reports directly to the Court Administrator and President Judge.

Essential Duties:

• Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
• Recruits, screens, trains (both initial and on-going) and supervises volunteers for the Court Appointed Special Advocate program.
• Serves as a liaison between volunteers and Court Administration.
• Develops and maintains procedures for case recordkeeping.
• Develops and maintains procedures for managing information systems.
• Serves as a professional liaison to the Court, agency personnel, advisory committee, and community.
• Plans program growth and development, including special projects, budgets, annual work plans, and analysis of trends in program services.
• Represents the program to service providers and agencies related to child welfare and the Court system.
• Develops and implements methods for program evaluation.
• Develops descriptive material for public distribution.
• Maintains and submits statistical data to National CASA.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• The CASA Director has supervisory responsibility for 1 direct report.

Qualifications :

• To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in child welfare/administration may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
