Staff Accountant | EMKAY Fleet Management The Tone This is a full-time role at EMKAY Fleet Management. EMKAY, established in 1946, is North America’s oldest privately held fleet management company, providing comprehensive vehicle financing, leasing, and fleet solutions across the US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of financial records and supporting essential accounting functions, ensuring efficient, data-driven fleet programs and long-term partnerships for clients. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Location: In-person, Not specified Pay: $50000–$70000 yearly Mission: To ensure the accuracy and timely processing of financial records and transactions, support key accounting functions, and contribute to efficient financial reporting. Tech Stack: Accounting software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word What You’ll Actually Do Tax & Reconciliation: Prepare and file assigned Sales and Use Tax returns, and accurately complete various ledger account reconciliations, including bank statements and weekly credit card reports. Financial Reporting: Generate, review, and analyze division-specific accounting reports, alongside vehicle sales journal and inventory reports, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. General Ledger Operations: Prepare precise journal entries for management and VP review, and execute detailed analyses and reconciliations crucial for monthly and fiscal closings. Operational Accounting: Process manufacturer incentives, reconcile daily dealer and manufacturer drafts, and provide essential backup support for Accounts Payables functions. International Accounting & Backup: Manage the comprehensive month-end process for EMKAY Mexico and train to perform as a reliable backup for other Accounting Department personnel. The Must-Haves Background: Early-Career. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, complemented by a strong understanding of GAPP accounting principles and general ledger work. Experience: Prior proven experience in general ledger work and the ability to accurately calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records. Hands-on experience operating spreadsheets and accounting software is essential. Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word. A high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrated research and problem-solving capabilities. The ability to effectively work and deliver results under time constraints. Bonus: Prior experience within the automotive or fleet leasing industry, as well as general office and customer service experience, is a plus.
