Responsibilities The Physical Therapist – Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment the Physical Therapist assesses the need for, develops, and delivers physical therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation. They identify the need for and make referral(s) to other disciplines. They implement individualized therapy programs designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. They instruct, educate and train patients and caregivers in essential skills and functions. They supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards. They maintain efficient delivery of rehab services, adhere to a plan of care, schedule, and timely documentation. They attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and other meetings; consult with the rehabilitation team; adapt program and plan of care; promote a safe environment; order supplies and equipment; clean and maintain equipment; put patient service first. They screen, examine and evaluate patients, establish diagnosis, identify impairments, design plan of care, set treatment goals, implement the physical therapy treatment plan, and complete documentation. Services include therapeutic exercise, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, endurance training, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, integumentary repair, use of electrotherapeutic and physical agents, adaptive devices, and application of orthotics and prosthetics. Qualifications Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license and eligibility. Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, or Master’s degree in a related field with Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience. Available to travel and temporarily reside in locations outside of the primary home. Physical Therapy degree earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated to be U.S. equivalent.
