AVP - Client On-Boarding & Distribution Operations

Job Responsibilities and Requirements The Assistant Vice President, Onboarding and Operations is responsible for developing and executing an enterprise onboarding strategy that modernizes, optimizes, and scales Reliance Matrix’s operational capabilities. This role provides executive leadership and operational oversight for Distribution operations, client implementation, including technology‑enabled process modernization, producer/ customer experience, operational support functions, global operations support that enable revenue growth and retention. The AVP will partner closely with senior leadership—including the SVP, Distribution, Technology, Product and Group Insurance Operations—to create a future‑ready implementation workflow that leverages technology and process efficiency to create best‑in‑class client outcomes. This includes leading transformational initiatives, creating and building a highly effective operational infrastructure that supports Reliance Matrix’s competitive position in the market within all size segments. The role requires strong leadership, technical fluency, financial acumen, Agile expertise, Change Management experience, and an enterprise mindset aligned. Implementation Establish and lead a standardized, scalable onboarding framework spanning the full client onboarding lifecycle. Act as the executive escalation point for onboarding‑related risks, dependencies, and experience gaps. Ensure the onboarding model balances speed, quality, and risk management while remaining flexible to meet unique client needs. Lead the oversight of customer and policy configuration activities, ensuring plan setup accurately reflects sold arrangements and client requirements. Drive automation and innovation to reduce manual effort and improve speed, accuracy, and client outcomes. Proactively remove friction across teams, simplifying handoffs and ensuring a seamless, coordinated experience for clients and brokers. Partner with Sales, Underwriting, Claims, and Operations to streamline workflows and remove bottlenecks. Strategy Develop and execute a comprehensive Distribution Operations Strategy that strengthens competitiveness and aligns with business growth objectives. Lead modernization efforts, including process automation, workflow digitization, and operational redesign to support a scalable, efficient distribution model. Promote a data‑driven, tech‑enabled operating rhythm that enhances transparency, forecasting, and decision‑making across all distribution channels. Translate enterprise strategy into execution‑ready operational plans with clear success metrics, KPIs, and accountability measures. Identify new opportunities to expand distribution capabilities, enhance market reach, and optimize the producer and partner experience. Act as the voice of distribution operations in enterprise talent planning, investment prioritization, and strategic program governance. Partner with key functional areas such as IT, UW&GIO, The Solutions Group on transformation of the operations and processes that support our business and driving the changes necessary to implement an effective strategy. Operations Oversee daily operational performance across all distribution support functions, ensuring seamless execution, timely deliverables, and strong service levels. Oversee Policy Administration function, responsible for all customer and policy system coding and ongoing maintenance. Lead enterprise outsourcing strategies for distribution operations, ensuring vendor performance, risk controls, contract compliance, and seamless integration with internal workflows. Establish uniform operational standards, procedures, and performance expectations across all production support teams. Reinforce financial discipline through budget management, forecasting, cost controls, and cost‑benefit analysis across distribution functions. Represent Distribution Operations in enterprise committees, cross‑functional projects, and transformation workstreams. Leadership Lead a high‑performing team across distribution operations. Attract, develop, and retain top talent with technical, analytical, and operational skill sets aligned with modern distribution capabilities. Champion a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on distribution performance, operational trends, risks, and opportunities. Communicate effectively with senior leaders, cross‑functional teams, external partners, and distribution stakeholders. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience Relevant Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in distribution operations, sales operations, business operations, project management leadership, or related fields within insurance or financial services. Demonstrated success leading complex operational transformations and building scalable, technology‑enabled operational frameworks. Strong experience in Salesforce, data analytics, workflow management tools, and enterprise systems supporting distribution. Agile and Change Management experience or certifications preferred. Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams and drive cultural alignment, engagement, and performance excellence. Financial acumen: Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and cost‑benefit analysis. Operational excellence: Skilled in process engineering, continuous improvement methodologies, and enterprise change management. Problem solving: Ability to anticipate operational risks, create solutions, and execute under time‑sensitive conditions. Ability to Travel: Up to 50%. The expected hiring range for this position is $155,230.00 - $207,230.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Charlotte, NC). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
