Construction Superintendent

ShadeFLA, a highly successful multimillion-dollar Boutique Awning company with a family-owned and operated legacy spanning 15 years, seeks an experienced Superintendent to join our team. Our company specializes in delivering superior shade solutions for the Hospitality, Commercial, Governmental and High-end Residential markets locally, nationally, and internationally. With recent projects including installations for notable venues such as The Shelborne Hotel, Pastis Restaurant, The Delano Hotel, The Goodtime Hotel, 545 Wyn Amenity Deck, Eataly Dallas, Prologis Distribution Center, Claudie Restaurant and various other high-profile commercial and residential projects, our company continues to set the standard for the industry. Position Summary The Construction Superintendent is a dynamic role responsible for the end-to-end execution of our custom shade installations. This position bridges the gap between high-level project management and on-site tactical leadership. You will maintain total operational ownership of each job from start to finish, splitting your time between the field (approximately 60%) and the office (approximately 40%). In the field, you will direct daily operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality standards. In the office, you will handle critical pre-construction planning, scheduling, logistics, and project closeout tasks. Core Responsibilities Project Management & Pre-Construction (40% Office Focus) Schedule the review of each project with the Installation and PM team with ample time to plan logistics, subcontractor hiring, and material procurement before mobilization. Review and fully internalize project plans, architectural drawings, scopes of work, and contracts to ensure seamless execution. Build, maintain, and manage the master construction schedules and phase plans for multiple concurrent projects. Coordinate material take-offs, manage project budgets, and finalize procurement needs between field installations. Process RFIs (Requests for Information), review submittals, and maintain organized administrative documentation and closeout packages. Field Leadership & Site Management (60% Field Focus) Direct all daily on-site construction activities, serving as the ultimate point of contact for all site operations and client relations. Coordinate, schedule, and manage all subcontractors, field staff, and internal crews to ensure work proceeds safely and on schedule. Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (OSHA compliance), conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections. Oversee material deliveries, equipment staging, and site logistics to prevent delays or site congestion. Maintain total responsibility for the physical build, ensuring all work aligns precisely with engineering specifications and local building codes. Conduct continuous quality control inspections, lead the punch-list process, and ensure zero defects prior to final client handover. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in construction management. Previous experience as a primary site Superintendent, or as an Assistant Superintendent on large-scale build-outs, is highly desired. Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and structural/architectural specifications. Proven ability to seamlessly transition between hands-on field management and administrative project management duties. OSHA 30 certification required; current First Aid/CPR certification preferred. Familiarity with Google Workspace and Monday.com Demonstrated ability to command a job site, manage diverse personality types, and hold subcontractors accountable to firm deadlines. This role requires a highly adaptable physical presence. You will spend approximately 60% of your time in the field, subject to varying weather conditions, active construction hazards, and physical mobility requirements (walking sites, climbing stairs/ladders). The remaining 40% of the time will be spent in a traditional office environment managing the planning, logistical, and administrative duties required to keep projects running smoothly.
