Assistant Coach - Football (Gentry Middle School) 2026-27 Job ID: 5793393 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 22, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Purpose: This position will assist in the facilitation of the 7th & 8th grade football program at Gentry Middle School. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with maintaining the football program. Maintain positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes. Assist with coordinating off‑season camps and conditioning programs. Encourage good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport. Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes. Ensure compliance with MSHAA. Maintain statistics on all players. Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District. Reporting Relationships Reports To: Athletic Director and Building Principal Supervises: None Qualifications Minimum: 60 hours of college credit, Missouri Substitute teaching certificate, and Sports First Aid Course. If hired with a substitute certificate: must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) an MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before being hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year. In addition, all coaches, regardless of certification status, must attend a NFICEP first‑aid class and pass the exit test given at that time. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, Missouri teaching certificate, prior teaching/coaching experience. Ideal candidate will have a professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast‑paced environment.
