Registered Nurse (RN)An opportunity is available for a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.Unit InformationBEDS: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24NURSE RATIOS: 1:4-5 on both days and nightsCOMMON DIAGNOSES: Adults with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory problems, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failureTITRATION OF DRIPS: Required for medications including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and InsulinNURSE AIDS/PATIENT CARE TECHS: Ratios of 1:12 available for supportEquipment and ResponsibilitiesRT Equipment: Includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygenTele/Monitor Techs: RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry stripsCHARGE NURSE: Present on each shift and takes an assignmentADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT: Features overhead lifts in half of the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scannersShifts & SchedulingSHIFTS: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS: Every other weekendHOLIDAY REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract timeframeFLOATING REQUIREMENTS: Potential to float to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patientsQualificationsCERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BLS, ACLS, NIHSSSKILL COMPETENCY: Proficient in managing arterial linesEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: No BSN required, but must have a valid RN licenseAdditional NotesThe ideal candidate will be flexible, willing to learn, and open to feedback. Strong communication skills are essential, and the ability to work with diverse cultural populations, including primarily Hispanic and Somali patients, is a plus. A successful nurse in this unit will demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to enhancing patient experience scores.For this role, a driver's license is required for verification purposes regarding distance from the facility. Candidates are expected to maintain professionalism as per policies regarding artificial nails.
