Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a 23-bed Orthopedic/Trauma unit located in Kansas City, Missouri. Our unit specializes in post-operative care for knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as trauma patients and some neuro overflow.

Shift Details

Shift: 7AM - 7PM
Schedule: 3 shifts per week, with 3 weekend shifts required per scheduling period

Patient Care Information

Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:5
Unit Staffing: Includes Unit Secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Equipment Utilized: Traction, fixators, cooling equipment
Documentation System: Meditech

Floating Policy

Contract labor is prioritized for floating. The RN may be required to float to other MedSurg level of care units, including General Medical-Surgical, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma units.

Patient Experience Requirements

Bedside shift report
Hourly rounding

Qualifications

Must possess a valid RN license
BLS certification required
Advanced skills needed in orthopedic care, telemetry, and NIH stroke protocols

Certifications and Skills Preferred

Experience in orthopedic nursing
Competency in telemetery nursing
Familiarity with NIH stroke protocols
