Job Information Job Title: Teacher Department: School Based Reports To: Building Administrator FLSA Status: Exempt Work Calendar: Licensed 200 Days Salary Scale: Teacher Salary Scale Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $56,000 to $101,332 Per Year Job Summary and Purpose The Teacher develops and implements an instructional program that effectively meets the needs of all students. The Teacher assesses and evaluates student performance and modifies instructional activities as appropriate. Work Objectives / Essential Functions Practice and promote positive interaction with students by demonstrating enthusiasm and maintaining interest. Encourage self‑direction and self‑motivation. Adapt instructional presentation to students' needs and interests. Maintain an organized program of instruction based on long‑range plans with effective lesson planning. Utilize a variety of appropriate materials and resources. Communicate lesson objectives and their importance to students. Use appropriate and varied teaching techniques and learning activities both in and out of class. Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and inform appropriate persons of such progress. Complete required reports promptly and accurately. Accept responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to the school. Maintain a neat, safe environment for students under the teacher’s care. Education and Experience Education Attainment (Required): Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or education related to specific subject area. Industry Licensure or Certifications (Required): Valid teaching license meeting Commonwealth of Virginia requirements with endorsement in the area assigned. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the subject being taught; classroom management strategies appropriate to learning situation. Skills: Relate positively to parents and community representatives; assess individual needs and performance. Abilities: Address criticism constructively; work cooperatively in a team; organize and perform work independently; meet deadlines; show sustained effort and enthusiasm.
