Director of Finance

I’m working with a well-established property & casualty insurance organization that is looking for a Director of Finance to lead its finance team while serving as a key business partner to executive leadership.

This role combines financial reporting, regulatory compliance, financial modeling, advanced analytics, process improvement, and strategic decision-making. Succession planning opportunity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and develop a collaborative accounting and financial reporting team.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and financial reporting matters.
• Partner with executive leadership on financial analysis, planning, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and utilize financial models and advanced analytical tools to evaluate business performance.
• Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, automation, reporting, and financial efficiency.
• Maintain disciplined financial processes and controls within an insurance environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA required.
• Proven experience leading, developing, and mentoring finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls.
• SOX experience preferred.
• Insurance or P&C experience is a plus.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to turn complex financial information into meaningful recommendations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
