Associate-Level Health Actuarial Consulting Role

Client-facing public-sector actuarial consulting closer to multi-client consulting than an underwriting partnership role because the work spans government engagements, business development, and advisory transformation projects.

Associate-level health actuarial consulting role in Deloitte's Government & Public Services team, based in Minneapolis with the same opening also listed in Tempe and other US locations. You'll advise public-sector clients on Medicaid pricing and reimbursement, including capitation and fee-for-service rate development, policy, forecasting, risk adjustment, and payment transformation.

Requirements

Must Have

• Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of health actuary experience in consulting and/or health plan/insurance company
• 1+ year of experience with Medicaid managed care capitation rate development and/or fee-for-service rate development
• Exam progress toward ASA or FSA
• Ability to travel 10-50%
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Strongly Preferred

• ASA with progression to FSA, FSA, or career ASA designation
• Experience providing Medicaid consulting services to government agencies
• Experience with Medicaid waivers, including 1115, 1915(b/c), and 1332 waivers
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Have

• Experience with risk adjustment mechanisms
• Experience with provider reimbursement streams, including DSH, UPL, etc.
• Experience with reimbursement models, including value-based care/ACO modeling
• Knowledge of group insurance products including disability, long-term care, etc.
