Are you ready to achieve great things with us?As an experienced Mechanical Commodity Buyer, you will manage strategic sourcing and procurement activities for mechanical components and assemblies, and be responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and quality-compliant supply of mechanical parts to support our rail vehicle production programs.Key ActivitiesDevelop and execute sourcing strategies for mechanical commodities (e.g., fabricated metal components and assemblies, castings, forgings, welded and machined parts)Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, contracts, and long-term agreementsCollaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to align procurement activities with project timelines and technical specificationsManage supplier relationships and performance, driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery (KPIs)Identify, qualify, and onboard suppliers capable of meeting Stadler's quality, cost, and delivery requirementsConduct market research and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to support sourcing decisionsParticipate in cross-site pooling activitiesSupport claims management, including liquidated damages, and assist the NCR (Non-Conformance Report) team with supplier escalationsRead and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs to support procurement and supplier management activitiesCoordinate between suppliers and Engineering to resolve technical inquiries, manage deviation requests, and ensure alignment on product requirementsManage supplier implementation of engineering changes and drawing revisions, ensuring compliance with updated specifications, effective revision control, and traceability of affected materialsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or similar fieldMinimum of 2 years' experience in Industrial or Manufacturing purchasingFluent English required with German a plusResilient and independent personalityStrong organizational skills and efficient working methodsVery experienced with Microsoft Office and ERP system (preferable Infor COM)Fluent in English, both written and verbalStadler US employee benefits package includes:Competitive Pay (plus Profit Sharing potential)Low-cost, comprehensive Medical / Dental / Vision / Rx plans401(k) with employer match after 90 daysGenerous Paid Time Off / 9 Paid Holidays / Extended Paid Holiday (Dec. 25 - Jan 1)Paid training / Career developmentTuition and training reimbursementPaid maternity and parental leaveCompany-paid life and disability insuranceReferral bonus program
