About the Position

Job Title

Respiratory Therapist – Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics

Charlottesville, VA | Children's Hospital

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 weeks) | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:00) | Onsite | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend, every other holiday; must work 2 of 3 winter holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services within a children's hospital setting, including NICU and PICU populations
• Deliver care in accordance with unit protocols under a self-scheduling model; schedule accommodations are made on a best-effort basis and are not guaranteed
• Perform respiratory and neuro diagnostic assessments and interventions appropriate to scope of practice
• Float within scope of practice to other units as needed per facility policy
• Adhere to all compliance requirements including RTO limits (maximum 40 hours per 13-week contract) and facility orientation modules

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Level 4 NICU experience required
• Active Virginia state license required; pending license accepted provided a temporary license can be obtained before the Wednesday prior to start date — must hold an active license in another state to be eligible for a temporary Virginia license
• Epic EMR experience required
• Nursys verification required at time of submission
• This unit does not have a stated mileage restriction; local candidates may be eligible — confirm eligibility at time of submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification preferred
