Job Title: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse
Location: Show Low, Arizona
Pay: $31.00–$47.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Full-time | Three 12-hour day shifts per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday
Employment Type: Permanent, Direct-Hire Position
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 total — $5,000 after 90 days and $5,000 after 12 months
Relocation Assistance: Up to $5,000 may be available. Relocation assistance requires a one-year employment commitment and must be repaid if the employee leaves before completing that commitment.

Position Summary

A hospital in Show Low, Arizona, is seeking experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurses for a permanent day-shift opportunity. The RN will care for medical-surgical, telemetry, and step-down patients with cardiac, neurological, respiratory, renal, infectious, and other acute conditions.

This position requires strong telemetry interpretation skills, confidence managing cardiac medications, and the ability to provide safe, organized care in a fast-paced acute-care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Monitor patients using Philips telemetry equipment.
• Validate cardiac rhythm interpretations completed by monitor technicians.
• Document telemetry interpretations at least every four hours or more frequently when clinically indicated.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and cardiac infusions according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Care for patients receiving medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, Bumex, Lasix, Integrilin, octreotide, and Protonix.
• Provide care for patients with acute myocardial infarction, stroke, TIA, pneumonia, renal disease, dialysis needs, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, SIRS, and diabetes.
• Support step-down patients requiring high-flow oxygen or home CPAP.
• Coordinate care with hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy staff, telemetry technicians, nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation.
• Follow infection-control and isolation procedures, including protocols for COVID-positive patients when needed.
• Float to other medical-surgical units based on hospital staffing and patient-care needs.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure in Arizona.
• Minimum of one year of recent acute-care Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience.
• Telemetry experience, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring.
• Experience caring for patients in an acute medical-surgical setting.
• Ability to manage a typical telemetry assignment of four patients.
• Ability to manage a typical PCU or step-down assignment of three patients.
• Experience administering cardiac medications and IV therapies.
• Ability to work three 12-hour day shifts per week.
• Availability to work every other weekend.
• Ability to float to other medical-surgical units.
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience.
• Experience caring for PCU or step-down patients.
• Experience with Philips cardiac-monitoring systems.
• Experience caring for patients requiring high-flow oxygen.
• Experience caring for cardiac, neurological, renal, respiratory, and infectious-disease populations.
• Familiarity with caring for patients receiving dialysis.
• Ability to work effectively without dedicated IV-team support.

• 18 private patient rooms
• Telemetry unit with six PCU-capable beds
• Typical telemetry nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Typical PCU/step-down nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Charge nurse may carry zero to two patients when necessary
• Monitor technicians provide centralized telemetry monitoring
• Patient-care technicians, health unit coordinators, and nursing assistants support the unit
• Nursing assistants generally divide the unit and may care for up to nine patients each
• Hospitalist available in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team
• The unit may care for COVID-positive patients when needed
