26-27 Payroll Clerk (CO)

Job Title

To prepare and process payroll for all district employees, produce reports and maintain payroll records.

Qualifications:

1. Two years post-secondary education in Accounting or related field

2. Excellent computer skills

3. Demonstrated experience with Automated Accounting/Payroll Systems

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills

5. Experience with Financial Accounting for Local and State School Systems

6. Such alternatives to the above as the Assistant Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To:

Assistant Superintendent Operations and Finance

Performance Responsibilities:

• Maintain payroll database, including employee file records, deductions and benefits
• Ensure statutory requirements are met regarding record keeping and withholding
• Prepare and document all staff and district substitute payroll, originating from Automated and Paper Systems
• Process court ordered garnishments
• Implement payroll deductions
• Maintain various records and prepare needed reports associated with payroll/personnel
• Prepare and submit tax deposits, provide payroll payables information to Accounts Payable Clerk
• Respond to employee enquiries regarding their pay or deductions
• Record and track accrued leave
• Maintain sick leave pool balances
• Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Finance

Terms of Employment:

Twelve-month year; 7.5 hours/day

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
