Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.Basic QualificationsBS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree1 - 2+ years of hands‑on experience performing guidance, navigation, or flight control engineering on aerospace or missile applicationsSolid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and fundamental control theory (PI filters, Laplace transform, Fourier analysis, state-space modeling, etc.)Demonstrated understanding of Air Vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, and environmental disturbance modelingDemonstrated understanding of guidance law development or autopilot/flight controls algorithm developmentUS Citizenship and an ability to attain Secret Clearance is requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills to include generation and presentation of verification plans, analysis reports, algorithm description documentation, other technical documentsFamiliarity in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or AdaDesired SkillsMaster's degree in an engineering discipline with concentration in controls, flight dynamics, or guidanceExperience using a Linux-based operating systemExperience integrating and testing hardware and software in Hardware In-the-Loop (HWIL)Experience with flight-control hardware, actuator interfaces, and inertial sensors Effective oral presentation skills for design reviewsPrior experience supporting flight testsPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $81100.00 - $150500.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
