WELLNESS DIRECTOR

Reports to: Business Office Director

Position Summary

The Wellness Director manages and directs the day-to-day functions of nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and practices that are in compliance with Federal, State and Local Regulations. The Wellness Director demonstrates knowledge of the resident’s physical, social, emotional and psychological needs based on the health care required.

Essential Job Duties

1. This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
2. Become well-versed in and ensuring the Community’s compliance with all aspects of the Adult Residential Care Provider Level 3 Rules and Regulations and Louisiana State Board of Nursing Regulations. Designs and implements procedures and programs that ensure regulation compliance. Including compliance with all applicable laws in accordance with the position as Wellness Director.
3. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively direct, lead and develop the Gardens of Somerset nursing team, including the ability to perform employee coaching, counseling, evaluations, and maintaining a high level of accountability for all nursing employees.
4. Provide job orientation and in-service training to all employees that are focused on the developmental, behavioral and health needs of the residents. Review training at least annually and make modifications as needed.
5. Oversee the delivery of assistance, training, and personal care services.
6. Ensure appropriate review, interpretation and analysis of records and reports. Participate in the development of plans of correction and operational plans, as they relate to the operation of the program.
7. Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations and Gardens of Somerset Policies and Procedures. Assure all forms and records are completed in timely manner.
8. Plan, develop and implement procedures and policies that enhance the quality of life for residents receiving services and assure procedures that support residents managing their own health care.
9. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and nursing practice standards.
10. Provide effective and efficient budget management that assures the best utilization of resources, focusing on nursing expenses, including nursing labor and supply expenses.
11. Must have a clear understanding of needs, desires and culture of the Gardens of Somerset resident population.
12. Manage other employees and responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees.
13. Ensure adequate staffing of all nursing positions in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations, including, but not limited to, covering for nursing shift duties, as necessary, to ensure proper staffing.

Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

1. Current Louisiana LPN or RN license in good standing.

1. Three years LPN experience plus one-year supervisory experience preferred.
2. Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis skin test.
3. Certified in cardiac pulmonary resuscitation and adult first aid within ninety (90) days of hire.
4. Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies, including the Direct Services Workers Registry.

Mental Demands:

Work requires adherence to precise procedures and standards involving a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording and reporting data. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information accurately.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

This position is very active and requires frequent standing/walking, bending/stooping, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling and occasional carrying. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds and the frequency of treatments may vary from resident to resident. Occasionally the feet and legs are used in the motion to release and lock brakes of wheelchairs and beds.
