Assistant Operations Manager

Shift Hours 12pm–9pm, weekends required. Essential Responsibilities Assist in the efficient day‑to‑day operations of the distribution center. Contribute to meeting overall financial objectives of the distribution center compared to budget. Create and foster an environment of trust, open two‑way communication, and cohesive team effort. Ensure alignment with the strategic vision and communicate the organizational mission and values to the team. Communicate with team members through regular and frequent meetings. Hold one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports at least twice a month. Ensure adherence to operational processes, policies, and procedures. Ensure the distribution center meets company standards on appearance, cleanliness, and functionality. Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives in the distribution center. Facilitate resolution of customer service issues. Verify driver payroll for accuracy. Conduct required physical cycle counts, review discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections. Ensure the use of proper safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date. Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts. Follow all company policies and execute company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation. Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations. Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations when appropriate per company policy. Non‑Essential Responsibilities (Optional) Participate in monthly DC‑wide meetings to communicate organization and DC wins and opportunities. Assist Loss Prevention with loss prevention audit and safety audits. May be responsible for safety and other training and periodic retraining to all team members and contract employees in the DC. May monitor employee time records and review and approve paid time off and leave of absence requests in accordance with policy and procedures. May participate in interviewing and hiring process for potential DC team members. May manage the DC in the absence of the DC leader. May be involved in coaching conversations and administering disciplinary actions. May lead or participate in daily stand‑up meetings at the beginning of each shift or team meeting. May take an active role in onboarding and training new DC team members. Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the company. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional Experience Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred. Skills Strong interpersonal skills; able to build goodwill, positivity, and loyalty with team members. Ability to motivate and empower individuals and groups to higher participation and performance. Capable of building team spirit, encouraging collaboration, identifying hidden strengths, encouraging idea sharing, and finding creative solutions. Identify all aspects of a problem and develop workable solutions. Adapt to new situations, change, and shift strategies as needed. Skillful in proper use of tools, hardware, software, and equipment. Adept at collaborating with others to identify problems, provide advice, and develop agreeable solutions. Ability to evaluate the impact of a business decision on financial statements and long‑term business well‑being. Competencies Warehouse, logistics, or supply chain knowledge. Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. Familiarity with general warehouse standard operating procedures and basic retail operations. Inventory control. Safety policies and procedures. Financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. Licenses and Certifications Physical demands: lift or move up to 100 pounds; require frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and use of hands and fingers.
