Systems Engineer

Job Summary:The Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering, optimizing, and securing the firm’s core enterprise infrastructure. This role drives the installation, performance tuning, management, and monitoring of all Windows Server environments, Microsoft Active Directory, and associated cloud-hybrid subsystems.Job Duties:Monitors and maintains servers and possibly storage systemsAnalyzes and troubleshoots system issues Performs and coordinates server replacements and server buildsMonitors, manages and maintains Active DirectoryAssists with, and may lead, setting assigned technology strategies of the firmActs as a technical resource for the Project Management OfficeCompletes and upgrades system documentationSome virtualization experience with Hyper-V and/or VMwareBasic networking, switching, and routing experience (firewall skills a plus)Microsoft Suite of products to include but not limited to Office 365, Azure, Windows Server, and related cloud technologiesAbility to work after standard business hours and travel (up to 25%)Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:N/AQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:High School diploma / GED, required Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, preferredExperience:Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience administering and managing large-scale server environments (50+ endpoints), required Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Manager (System Center), Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) and/or Active Directory, preferredOne (1) or more years of experience with leading projects, preferredPrior experience with on premise (SAN/NAS) and virtual storage (VMware ESXi), preferredLicense/Certifications:Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) preferred.Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent legacy MCSA/MCSE credentials preferred.Software:Advanced proficiency in managing modern Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and core network services (DNS, DHCP), requiredStrong administrative experience with VMware ESXi and vSphere virtualization platforms, preferredPractical experience with enterprise SAN/NAS storage arrays and network fabrics, preferredFoundational or administrative knowledge of Linux systems (RedHat), preferredFamiliarity with hardware management tools, specifically Cisco Intersight, preferredLanguage:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and customer relationship skillsAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on detailsCapable of successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentAbility to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsCapable of working well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional mannerAbility to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and managementAbility to interact and build consensus among peopleIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $115,000 - $125,000Maryland Range: $115,000 - $125,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $115,000 - $125,000At BDO, how we show up matters.
