Head Start Center Director

Heads Start Center Director Boulder County Community Services Department (CSD) is hiring a Heads Start Center Director to oversee the daily operations of its Head Start early childhood education center. The Director will be on site each day, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and fostering a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children and families. Location: Boulder County, CO (Boulder and Lafayette) Salary Range: $63,828 – $91,944 annually Job Type: Full‑time, Exempt (FLSA) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:45 am – 4:15 pm Responsibilities Oversee mandatory mandates related to mandatory mandatory mandatory oversight and management of cross‑cutting approaches, education and development, family & community engagement, health, program management, and federal administrative procedures. Provide daily leadership and support to educators and staff, focusing on curriculum implementation, teaching practice, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and the Head Start Act. Develop and manage the center’s budget, facilities, and human resources while coordinating with community partners and Head Start mandates. Use data systems (e.g., Mandate Gold, CLASS, ECERS, ELLCO) to monitor classroom implementation, analyze outcomes, and inform continuous improvement. Conduct classroom observations, provide coaching and mentoring, and oversee teacher training sessions and presentations. Coordinate services for children with challenging behaviors, including ISPs and parent meetings, and offer emergent classroom support as needed. Administer performance appraisals, counsel employees on performance, and recommend personnel actions regarding hiring, termination, and discipline. Maintain compliance with federal monitoring, grant application, and designation renewal requirements. Collaborate with community partners, ensuring strong understanding of local education and professional development resources. Respond to emergency situations and adapt duties as required. Qualifications Minimum three (3) years of lead teaching experience in a preschool setting. Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education, family studies, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with 30 credits in early childhood education and early teaching experience. Current CLASS Observer Certification or ability to obtain within one year. Current MyTeaching Strategies Inner‑Rater Reliability for Preschool (including Dual Language Learners and Children with Disabilities) or ability to obtain within one month. Current Director’s License from the State of Colorado (Colorado Shines Level III) or ability to obtain within one month. Comprehensive background investigation with fingerprinting, including FBI, CBI, TRAILS, and Sex Offender checks as required by Colorado licensing and Head Start standards.
