Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
The registered nurse in the Labor and Delivery specialty provides comprehensive prenatal, delivery, and postpartum patient care. They collaborate closely with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care throughout the childbirth process.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor obstetric patients to identify healthcare needs and priorities.
• Implement and document individualized care plans based on patient assessments and physician directives.
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions related to labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Manage patient care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods to ensure safety and comfort.
• Educate patients and families on newborn care, postpartum recovery, and health education.
• Advocate for evidence-based practices and support continuous improvements in obstetric nursing care.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
• Possess at least 1 year of experience in labor and delivery, OR, postpartum, or antepartum units.
• Have an ASN with additional certification in AWHONN or EFM; BSN preferred.
• Be certified in BLS (AHA), NRP, and ACLS (preferred).
• Demonstrate excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
